Pipevine Swallowtail
Battus philenor

Observation date: July 10, 2023
Submitted by: RoxannaTessman
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Difficult to photography because it never stopped fluttering as it went from flower to flower on the butterfly bush. Dark butterfly with white (or light yellow) spots on body and one yellow spot on wing. I wonder if there was more color on the missing lower half of the wings.
Status: Stray

Coordinator notes: Be sure and report that to Jon Shephard, the Season Summary Coordinator in Oregon, that is an important record and worth publishing. What city or area in Jackson County? He can be reached at shep.lep@netidea.com.Butterflies His phone number is 250 352 3028. While I am a Season Summary Coordinator for California, Arizona and Nevada...Jon has Oregon and Washington! Great find, ragged or not, send him the photo and specific locality and date-Ken Davenport
