Observation notes: This butterfly was intently gathering the contents of each floret from a swamp milkweed, sharing blossom-space with a couple of bees, along the ditch-line of the dirt-and-gravel road. Partly cloudy day, about 80 degrees and warming up fast. In addition to the swamp milkweed, there were chicory, blackberries, lespedeza, cinquefoil, queen anne's lace, mixed grasses; beech, maple, sycamore, dogwood, oak; honeysuckle and morning glory vines.
