Pink-striped oakworm moth
Anisota virginiensis

Observation date: May 26, 2016
Submitted by: Margie Labadie
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: The moths were on the side of our rocking chair on a board that is 2.25" across. Moths1 picture shows the entire board for scale. We have a 1 acre organic garden in this swampy area of North Carolina with tons of insects. Never seen these before. Humid, sunny and still day. The bottom one flew away about 2 hours after this photo. The other stayed longer.
