Identification: Note dark red spot on abdomen--not white, as in most other members of the genus
Wing Span: 2.0 cm
Life History:
Flight: March to September
Caterpillar Hosts: Sweetgum, Liquidambar styraciflua.
Adult Food:
Habitat:
Range: Florida to North Carolina and in South Carolina, Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and eastern Texas. In the north, it is found at least up to Maryland.
