Callippe Fritillary
Speyeria callippe

Observation date: May 18, 2014
Submitted by: badyak
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: there were a huge amount of fritillary butterflies in the area on this day, this one seemed different than most with much lighter color on the dorsal side, I took pictures and video of many of the others as well, and was even led to an interesting little chrysalis by one fritillary landing next to it
Status: Resident

Coordinator notes: Coronis Fritillaries tend to be larger with a rather different wing shape, yours has more elongated wings and a bolder network of black lines and more contrasting patterns than coronis, which also are in that region, often at higher elevations-Ken Davenport
