Coordinator notes: Coordinator 1: this is the larva of a sphinx moth, not a swallowtail butterfly; though of similar size and color, the markings and other details are different. I don't know which species of sphinx moth it is, but perhaps another identifier can figure that out for you. thanks for sharing your observation and excellent photos!
Coordinator 2: This the larva of the Achemon sphinx, which feeds on grape, Virginia creeper, and related plants.
