Observation date: April 06, 2013
Submitted by: Nymphalis antiopa
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: This specimen was located at 4:35pm in semi-shaded, cool, deciduous forest near a pond. The temperature was slightly cool, probably in the low to mid sixties. Also nearby were two coupling specimens of the same species. This mourning cloak was flitting back and forth across this tree trunk, apparently contemplating the best place to receive maximum sunlight. It was tough waiting for him (or her) to sit still.
