Two-tailed Swallowtail
Papilio multicaudata

Observation date: March 27, 2013
Submitted by: dwwhatley
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: We found this 'butterfly' dead in a dry creek.
Status: Resident
Verified by: stomlins701
Verified date: March 30, 2013
Coordinator notes: This waa a bit difficult because of so little of the specimen left but it could only be one of two species, Papilio glaucus or Papilio multicaudata. I decided this was the remnants of a male P. multicaudata because of the thinner nature of the first black stripe in the forewings, the more ochreous yelow background color, and the habitat where found dead-in a dry creek bed--typical P. multicaudata habitat.
