Leconte's Haploa
Haploa lecontei

Observation date: June 06, 2012
Submitted by: Linda Beek
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Weather was sunny, hot (low 80s), very humid, and quite breezy. Most of the butterflies and moths seemed to be hunkered down in the shade to take refuge from the hot sun, and there was little activity. I scared this moth up out of the tall grass, and then waited for it to settle again so I could grab a couple of shots (not the greatest, since I just stuck the camera down into the grass and fired off some shots, more or less shooting blind). In the photo, it looks greenish or yellowish from the sun shining through the dandelion leaf it was clinging to, but it was definitely white with black markings.
