Observation notes: I was fishing on the Owyhee River in Malheur County, Oregon. I noticed a strange lep on my way down stream, but it flew before I had a chance to photograph it. It happened to be there on my way back, so I took several photos. I wasn't even sure of its species until I checked by guide back at the car. It was a clear, windless day. The butterfly was feeding on white clover, and moved more than once as I tried to get good photos. At one point, I was able to pull the plant down so I could get a close-up, but it didn't turn out well. The attached photos are crops of more distant shots. I reported this sighting, with maps, to Bob Pyle, who said he would forward it as a county record to the Oregon lep society, but I've not heard anything more about that.
