Red-fringed Emerald
Nemoria bistriaria

Observation date: October 09, 2011
Submitted by: Bob Cammarata
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Found on oak. VERY discrete and camouflaged little fellow! ...actually had to prod it a few times to see if it was really alive. Once it was awakened, it wouldn't sit still so the photography was as challenging as it gets. I'm leaning toward a Red-fringed Emerald (N. bistriaria) but I could find any images on the web to corroborate.
