Observation notes: After seeing dozens of Marine Blues in the wild chapparal preserves between the housing developments of western Carlsbad, I happened upon this splash of orange that I managed to follow to a landing among weeds growing along an open concrete drainage channel. I later identified it as a female Acmon Blue. Supposedly a very common Blue, but this is the first time I was able to photograph it here. High sun today, and the temperatures were in the high 70's with little or no wind. Lots of Checkered Whites and Orange Sulphurs in the vicinity as well.
