Coordinator notes: A big, beautiful male of the Two-tailed Tiger Swallowtail. There are Western Tiger Swallowtails in the area of the sighting but more common in the higher mountains where the preferred host plant is Aspen. The WTS is smaller with wider black stripes and the yellow ground color is paler (not as deep a yellow) and there is only one tail on the hindwings. You can easily see the two distinct tails on your sighting and a caudal shorter one that almost makes three tails! Happy sightings! Mike
