Palamedes Swallowtail
Papilio palamedes

Observation date: March 23, 2022
Submitted by: pamelmmc
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: The butterflies were in high numbers throughout the entire area of this part of Texas, but this was the most I had seen at one food source. This went on for hours on this day that I was visiting the wildlife refuge with one appearing to get stuck and unable to detach from this flower.
Status: Resident

Coordinator notes: Really cool photo. All but one of these are P. palamedes, but there is also one example of what looks like Papilio troilus (Spicebush Swallowtail) in there as well.
