'Astyanax' Red-spotted Purple
Limenitis arthemis astyanax

Observation date: October 14, 2022
Submitted by: magsXcash
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: on the bottom edge of the wings were torn and the butterfly could not fly, it just kept crawling around on my hand and wasn't even trying to take off. I'm actually reaching out for help because I brought it inside and made a container for it and now I don't know what to do. I don't know how to "care" for it, I just felt bad for it cause it couldn't fly

Coordinator notes: Concerning care. All you can do is find various flowers for it to obtain nectar from. Putting flowers in a small vase of water, making sure butterfly can not fall or crawl into water. Put butterfly on flowers to crawl. Butterflies generally don't live long. This is all you can do, but it does provide butterfly with all it's needs. Thank you! JAMES STEEN
