Observation notes: This was seen fluttering around our farmyard in rural eastern central North Dakota. It often sat wings folded up, so it was pure luck taking the photo as it was about to take flight. The size with wings outstretched could fit in a quarter. The weather was 79°F and 73% humidity with no real breeze to speak of.
