Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Hot day clear calm, except for all the biting flies. Numbers low too many transrelocated from this location when researchers found this colony. Hope they can hold on. Saw only three females although several males. This is a female if you want to know how to tell males get a copy of 1976 butterflies of southern calif from Ken Davenport. Great Plates in it! and descriptions as well. Thanks again for all you do Ken! Keep up the Great Work.

Coordinator notes: Actually, color plates of Hermes Coppers are in Emmel & Emmel's 1973 Southern California book. I did not have illustrations in my more recent version. My only color plates are in the Yosemite Color Plates book where Lycaena hermes does not occur.-Ken Davenport
