White-marked Tussock Moth
Orgyia leucostigma

Observation date: September 01, 2019
Submitted by: Mary Parker
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Sunny, clear, warm day. Mid to Upper 70s. Relatively calm behavior hanging out on top of my old shingled wood mailbox attached to the porch post of my historic house in downtown Geneva. Rather sparce foliage around area found. Two foot high bush and Four rose bushes within proximity. Wasn't bothered by me taking pictures with cell phone and made several loops in a small space providing me with great angles. Hung off edge at one point as if to climb on my phone. Left it unbothered and was spotted later on in same area.
