Observation notes: Found in my yard struggling to fly and kept falling into the grass. Moved her(?) to a safer more concealed shady area onto a flowering plant, since it’s a very hot and muggy day. Hopefully after some rest this beauty will be able to fly away successfully.
Update at 8:00pm: Had moved the potted flowers that I had placed moth on to a even more secure spot in the yard near some bushes to help shield from the stormy weather. Went to check on “her” at 8 and noticed her antenna were up and active, so I let her crawl onto my hand to see if she could actually fly after resting all afternoon. After a couple of minutes of warming up her wings (super sonic fluttering) she was able to take off and successfully flew up high and then away! I suspect she may have actually been recently emerged when I found her and she just needed time before she could take to the air.
