Canadian Tiger Swallowtail
Papilio canadensis

Observation date: July 28, 2019
Submitted by: Amandadawn
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: He refuses to fly. I have had him overnight now (there was a bad wind storm yesterday and after multiple hours of observation in the same location, we made the decision to relocate him for now. I do feed him honey water solution every few hours but will not fly? There is a little bit of damage to the swallows of his wings but no other noticable problems. He seems to enjoy being held, hold on tight and occasionally flaps. But will not take flight even inside. I keep him at a warm temperature. I'd appreciate any help in a proper ID or making him more comfortable. It has been suggested hes possibly female and looking to bear young. I'd love to help her get set up properly and make her a terrarium if that's the case :)
