Observation notes: I found this caterpillar crawling outside my back door on the floor mat. This was our back deck. It was hot today; around 95 degrees. There are several trees near our deck which provide shade; also, I have several potted plants on the deck. I have lived in southeastern VA almost all my life, near the coastline and have never seen a caterpillar that looks like this one.
