Coordinator notes: Worn - either Oeneis bore or polixenes......Coordinator for Colorado: I can confidently identify this butterfly as Oeneis polixenes. It is not bore because the veins on the hindwing are not white, they are dark, hence the common name "White-veined Arctic" for O. bore. We have both species in Colorado (ssp. brucei and edwardsii - the picture actually looks very much like our brucei !) so there is no doubt as to the identity of this individual of arctic. Mike
