Observation date: March 08, 2015
Submitted by: Robert Gorman
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: hot high seventies to low eighties at time of photo. slight breeze then few strong gusts later in after noon. juniper scrub upper plum canyon. moist ground from rain one week prior. this little guy was waiting for a mate. did not want to pose but did not want to fly very far away. kept returning, learned from others photos the colors will pop with blue sky background for most butterflies. we saw several of these on there host plant. but only one on a bush mostly in canyons or tight washes. also found one on moist sand.
