Observation notes: Unfortunately the caterpillar was deceased when found. It was in a 5 gallon bucket containing rocks collected at the Skeena and Copper River junction that had filled with rain water over the past week and presumably drowned. The caterpillar was firm and had not begun to decay. The weather in the past 2 weeks has been mostly light rain with temperatures around 12C to 18C, but sunny with temperatures rising to around 20C over the last few days. The caterpillar could have fallen from the Weeping Willow tree above.
