Observation notes: Found this caterpillar in the school yard. Very large (4-5 inches) and about the width of an adult thumb. Put him in a bug house to explore with the students further the following day but the next morning it had wrapped itself inside some leaves we had put in the bug house and was in a cocoon. We tried unsuccessfully to research and identify this caterpillar. We are curious to know what will be emerging!
