Identification: Wings powdery orange; forewing rusty brown in male, more whitish and brown in female. Four diffuse dark brown lines cross forewing in both sexes, three on hindwing. Fringe checkered brown and whitish.
Wing Span: 2.5-3 cm (male), female smaller.
Life History: A day-flier in bogs and wet meadows.
Flight: Late May-August.
Caterpillar Hosts: Arborvitae and other woody plants; sometimes a pest on cranberry.

Range: Nova Scotia to Pennsylvania, west to Manitoba and Minnesota.
