White Spotted Sable Moth
Anania funebris (Strom, 1768)

Subfamily: Pyraustinae
Identification: Wings black with two pale yellowish white spots on each wing.
Wing Span: 1.8-2.2 cm.
Life History: Found in fields during the day.
Flight: May-early July.
Caterpillar Hosts: Goldenrod.

Habitat:
Range: Species is holarctic. The North American subspecies range is Newfoundland to southern North Carolina, west across Canada, south to Michigan and Minnesota.
