Observation notes: on buckwheat hot day 80 mid day, dry stream bed on bank. lots of willows and mule fat oaks and coastal sage, dry day light breeze. some of these would stir in the stream bed then fly briskly into willow to hide like a moth?

Coordinator notes: Studies since the Emmel & Emmel 1973 book suggests tailed sylvinus in much of southern California are actually subspecies desertorum, much lighter than the darker nominate ssp. sylvinus-Ken Davenport
