Lace-winged Roadside-Skipper
Amblyscirtes aesculapius

Observation date: August 27, 2011
Submitted by: Doug Bruce
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Photographed adjacent to cane.
Status: Resident
Verified by: stephen stedman
Verified date: August 30, 2011
Coordinator notes: First photo-documented record for Grainger County; the individual in this photo is extremely worn, lacking the checkered fringes to the wings and revealing only some of the lacework characteristic of this species. However, the pattern of veins on this individual is identical to the pattern of veins on individuals of Amblyscirtes aesculapius, at least as revealed by photos in several field guides. The presence of cane sp. close to the site of the photo is also a consideration in the i.d.
