Two-tailed Swallowtail
Papilio multicaudata

Observation date: July 16, 2011
Submitted by: Doddee
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: It was a beautiful sunny day and the sky was bluer than I noticed in a long time. I was surprised to see this butterfly because I had seen one back in June and I was told that they only live for about 3 weeks.
Status: Resident

Verified date: August 07, 2011
Coordinator notes: Each individual butterfly does live for only short time, but additional individuals (thousands across New Mexico) are emerging from chrysalises all during June and July, so this is probably a different individual. thanks for sharing your beautiful photos!
