Observation notes: This was in Chaparral habitat on a South facing slope so not the Canyon Woodland habitat for Moss Elfin. No Stonecrops seen in the area. Near West Camino Cielo Road. Partly cloudy day in the 60’s F. During the NABA Santa Barbara Butterfly Count.

Coordinator notes: Chris: I am going to call this a Western Brown Elfin but the zig zag type markings rsemble a Moss Elfin. Without seeing the habitat or examining the actual individual and no confirmed records of Moss Elfins in that County, that is the best I can do.---Ken Davenport
