Observation notes: One of two leafwings visiting and taking nutrients from a small pond fed by spring water along the Arroyo Trail within Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument. They would not show the dorsal surface and would land on the substrate only briefly each time; they preferred to land on fallen oak leaves and took nutrients from the wet leaves and from seeping water. The afternoon was warm, under full sun, and windy.
