Observation notes: Head and body 1.03 inch long not including antenna (used digital calipers with known good accuracy), picture with ruler small tick marks are 1/10th inch. Found on pile of firewood (from local area and has not moved for 6 months.) Elevation 50 feet above sea level, wide river valley with row crop farms, some residential landscaping in area, and retail plant nursery within 1 mile. Surrounding hills are conifer forest, mostly Douglas Fir, partly burned in wildfire 5 years ago. Immediate plot of land has large quantity of mixed specie wood chips(one acre 6 to 18 inches to thick), cottonwood trees of various ages (alive and stumps), and willow trees. Prior 2 months no significant rain, 70f-95f highs 55f-65f lows, day of observation had 0.3inch rain in morning. The dark pellets in the pictures are the moth's feces, deposited on paper after capture.
