Observation notes: Sharing Elfin Forest’s Way Up trail with the Mountain Mahogany Hairstreaks were the Hedgerow’s, appearing in almost the same numbers, and inhabiting most of the same terrain, except perhaps to venture out into other nearby foliage. They exhibited much of the same aggressive territorial behaviors. Hairstreaks don’t seem to patrol so much as just perch and wait for something to fly near and piss them off. Then they fly out to engage in aerial battles that are still impressive to watch.
