Coordinator notes: The Anicia Checkerspot...this is the high altitude subspecies brucei (Bruce's Checkerspot). As you suggested Chalcedona...I can't remember if I explained...it was once thought Anicia and Chalcedona were the same species (aka "Variable Checkerspot") but they are separate. Anicia is primarily a Rocky Mountains butterfly and Chalcedona is mostly in the far western area. Editha is a mountain butterfly but is found primarily only in sagebrush habitat around 8000 feet in late May and June. Mike
