Bordered Patch
Chlosyne lacinia

Observation date: July 07, 2022
Submitted by: jamesvonloh
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: One of two patches displaying within a stand (~15m x 25m) of Apache plume short shrubs (1-1.5m tall) and large boulders along the Pine Tree Trail near the Aguirre Spring Campground, on the east-facing low-slope of the Organ Mountains. The soil was damp following a light, overnight monsoon rainfall. These patches had one brief interaction that I interpreted to be territorial. This individual had predominantly white markings on both dorsal and ventral surfaces. The afternoon was hot, humid, with light wind, and under full sunshine.
