Observation notes: Metalmark first observed perching on a small rock then moving onto a branch of littleleaf sumac, a shrub established along an arroyo of Bar Canyon in the Organ Mountains. Here it took nectar from flowers and perched on the branches. The day was warm, under full sun, and with a constant wind from the NW-to-SE; arroyo vegetation and orientation calmed wind conditions.
