Coordinator notes: Although the Coronis Fritillary lives well into the late summer and is a more likely frit to be found off the foothills into the city area, from your photos, your sighting is certainly a Mormon Fritillary, certainly a stray down to the city from the higher foothills that is not a common occurrence by any means but does happen occasionally. It probably found a stream course - like Bear Creek - and followed nectar into the city. By the plot on your map, the record is in Lakewood, Jefferson County (Wadsworth & Yale), just over the Denver County line back to the east (the dividing line is the next major n-s road...Sheridan Blvd.). A very good sighting and glad you submitted this record. Mike
