Observation notes: Overwintered 28 chrysalises from last year. Last one eclosed today.They started opening June 11. All healthy, feeding on Tiithonia and Zinnias. They only lay eggs on Rue, never on my citrus tree.

Coordinator notes: Yes, Papilio (Heraclides) rumiko. Thanks for your comments on Rue, a known host plant. It sounds like you are quite successful rearing them. Unfortunately in the San Joaquin Valley, the Western Giant Swallowtail does not occur except as a very rare stray-Ken Davenport
