Observation notes: Mostly sunny with high thin clouds. SW@10-15. 58F-Humidity 17%. Night low was 27F with W winds 10-15. It was seen flying north across the yard and suddenly landed under a tree. I checked on it and found it was on a Dandelion blossom. It’s been VERY dry here and in extreme drought. A few dandelion are blooming where I’ve drip water trees. This is 2nd monarch this year. 1st was briefly seen 2 days ago(Saturday the 6th)wind was 35-55mph from south. Extremely dirty skys. It was seen very briefly on lee side of house before heading north.

Coordinator notes: James, thanks for getting these into the record. this is a female, as you no doubt saw. pretty good condition. quite early for this location. it's dry everywhere, so I'm glad she found some nectar. now I hope she finds some milkweed sprouts!
