Coordinator notes: I think I noted on another record the name is changing from C. tullia to C. california per genetics. BTW, I wrote Art Douglas and he said his violet bed started showing new growth and he started some dorothea larvae. He said the most robust female you sent gorged on honeywater and never laid an egg (so maybe she wasn't fertile?). He said some are now nearing last stage to pupate although some larvae seem to be reluctant to feed very well and remain small. Also....most of the females were reluctant to lay eggs and he had a lot laid that were infertile but they lived long enough to get "a couple of hundred larvae total." That should produce a sufficient number of adults that apparently represent Argynnis nausicaa dorothea rather than A. hesperis. Mike
