Autumnal Moth
Epirrita autumnata

Observation date: September 26, 2020
Submitted by: dawittrock2231
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Near a floodlight on my deck. I have been trying to figure out to use BG more effectively, but the instructions, or my level of intelligence, are lacking. I am somewhat uncomfortable moving moths to a more specific category (out of the general pool of photos where they are placed if you hit the ID Request tab), but the instruction on tagging and moving make no sense to me. Should a novice like me be trying to move photos to the superfamily or family or other levels?

Coordinator notes: If you are sure of the family or genus, you can move the photos. Moving to a superfamily level is not recommended from what I have read although not always so. On another note I found it useful when I had the spare time (such as in winter) to read through the posts on the Forum. Luckily I did this when there weren't quite so many messages but it still doable. Meanwhile here are some comments that may help regarding editors' comments about placing moths - https://bugguide.net/node/view/1178368#2101306 I presume you have come across this link re: posting and moving images. https://bugguide.net/help/images
