Common Wood-Nymph
Cercyonis pegala

Observation date: August 13, 2020
Submitted by: Christian.Nunes
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: There were multiple large Cercyonis flitting about the tall grass and along the streamside of West Creek. I've talked myself into them being C. pegala, but I'm hoping to double check in case they are C. sthenele.
Status: Resident
Verified by: mikefisher
Verified date: November 19, 2020
Coordinator notes: All shown in your photos Christian are the Common Wood-nymph. Sthenele is also in the canyon, usually in the oak scrub on the hillsides and perhaps more common up on Unaweep Divide going east (or going west) in the open sagebrush-oak areas. Mike
