Date notes: I saw the butterfly while walking along Aguirre Springs Road off of Hwy 70 that leads to the national park. It was visiting flowers that grew along the side of the road.

Coordinator notes: yes, this is checkered white, perhaps our most common and widespread butterfly species. You will see it frequently! This is a female, which has more dark marks than the male.
