Observation notes: Puddling at wet rocks by Sespe Creek. Note the reddish brown upper side shown by the torn wing. The reddish brown differentiates it from Mountain Mahogany Hairstreak which is dark brown on its upper side. Probably subspecies Chalcis. Sunny day in the 80’s F.
