Observation notes: It was crawling across an asphalt path into the grass. The path is along the Missouri River, the bank is lined with willows, across a narrow channel is a large willow and cottonwood covered island that is inaccessible to people but is dense with birds and other critters. It was sunny and about 80 degrees. Great Falls, Montana. Size...about 8 cm long and 1.5 cm diameter, the size of my middle finger.
