  Sighting 1253834

Observation date: June 11, 2020
Submitted by: Christian.Nunes
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: A single male noted in a moist foothills meadow. Immediately struck me as being brighter orange, ventrally, than the abundant P. thermistocles flying in the area. When I got close I could see the cream colored post-median spot band and the basal spot. The stigma is narrower than I would expect. I'm not entirely certain about the ID of P. sonora, but feel that it's a pretty good candidate.

Coordinator notes: Hi Christian, Sure you didn't mean to ID as P. mystic? P. sonora is only in the high mountains. By the way, I got down to McDonald Creek in Rabbit Valley on Aug. 26 and E. rita/pallescens emmeli was flying there at the picnic area. It was terribly dry, some E. leptocladon was in good bloom, others not so good. I did not see any E. ellisii on any of the E. corymbosum but I didn't go on down the creek from the trailhead where there is more host growing. Mike
