Our summer fundraiser has arrived, and we need your help!
We depend on donations to keep Butterflies and Moths of North America freely available. If everyone who uses this resource makes a donation, we could cover our ongoing costs, develop new features, upgrade the system, and maybe even remove those pesky ads. Please make a one-time or recurring donation to show your support for this valuable source of information. Thank you!
Observation notes: This butterfly landed on my head and then bounced off me several times before landing close by... long enough to take a couple of pictures from 4' away. This was in a volcanic area with scrub bushes and ponderosa pines. Warm and sunny. Flight pattern was typical... quick changes in direction with short glides. No noticeable flowers in the area or on the bush that it landed on for a few seconds.

Coordinator notes: thanks Paul! We have few butterfly reports from this area so your submittal will fill in a big blank on the map for this species.
