Coronis Fritillary
Speyeria coronis

Observation date: July 30, 2016
Submitted by: karlkrause
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I am afraid that I lack the experience to assign this butterfly a relative size as requested. Based on the information I have read, it seems late in the year for a Callippe. But I am new to butterflies so I am at a loss. I am an experienced birder so I know the problems in making some id's based on photos!
Status: Resident

Coordinator notes: If this is about twice as big as a cillippe, its coronis...let me know and resubmit, I will be back Thursday-Ken Davenport Based on body hairs, I will call this S. coronis hennei, with the advisor this could be a female S. callippe macaria. Both occur on Frazier Mountain-Ken Davenport
