Glover's Silkmoth
Hyalophora gloveri

Observation date: May 24, 2020
Date notes: Found in our neighborhood
Submitted by: Vmmountain
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: My son brought him home from playing outside. We put him in a terrarium to get a photo and share with siblings. Let it go immediately after that.
Status: Resident
Verified by: A_baldini
Verified date: June 04, 2020
Coordinator notes: Your suggested ID is essentially correct, as some consider the Glover’s Silkmoth to be a subspecies of the Columbia Silkmoth. Just an FYI, silkmoths like this one lack mouthparts and a digestive system as adults, so they can’t drink any flower nectar. But anyway, thanks for submitting your sighting!
